Unit 5 When was he born?
一、课堂设计理念
新课程标准提倡把学习变成一种充满智慧的挑战,课堂上教师应把主动权还给学生,让学生自己去发现、去分析、去表述、去应用,让学生自己参与、主动探索。新课程标准还明确提出让每位学生参与知识的形成过程,亲身经历、体验学习过程。新课程的核心理念是“为了每一位学生的发展”,突出强调学生的发展,强调对于学生情感、态度和价值观的培养。本堂课的设计正是以这种理念作为支撑的。
二、单元教材分析
本单元主要是通过介绍一些大众焦点人物的经历和他们所取得的成就和业绩,让学生了解如何去向别人介绍自己所熟悉的名人以及他们所取得的成绩。其中包含介绍他们的姓名,出生年月,他开始从事职业的时间,他的优秀品质以及他所取得的荣誉等。本单元谈论到的大众焦点人物,学生是比较熟悉和了解的。因此,非常容易激发学生的学习兴趣和交谈的渴望,并从中体会他们在取得成就的道路上所体现出来的坚忍不拔的精神和优秀的品质。
三、学情分析
本单元从运动明星入手,正对了爱好运动的中学生的口味,明星们的出生年月及生活经历也正是他们渴望了解的,在生动活泼的情景中进行丰富的口语练习,应该能比较容易达到各项目标。
四、教学方法
依据新课程标准要求,本节课从学生的学习兴趣、生活经验和认识水平出发,倡导体验、实践、参与、合作与交流的学习方式和任务型的教学途径,发展学生的综合语言运用能力,使语言学习的过程成为学生形成积极的情感态度、主动思维和大胆实践、提高跨文化意识和形成自主学习能力的过程,让学生在愉悦的氛围里学会学习。
五、教学目标:
(一)知识目标

I. 谈论邓亚萍、乔丹等运动明星过去的生活经历与成就。
II. 学习一些有关运动职业的英文表达方式。
(三)情感目标
通过学习和了解一些知名人物邓亚萍、乔丹等人取得的辉煌成绩和荣誉,体会他们在取得成就的道路上所体现出来的坚忍不拔的精神和优秀的品质。
六、教学重难点
1. “When was she/he born?” “She/He was born in ….”中的“be”动词的形式。
2. 对时间段提问应用 “How long…?” 的句型
3.When/how 引导的特殊疑问句。
Lesson 1
Aims:

3.情感目标:学习了解知名人物的主要日期和主要事迹。
Step1: Introduce the aims of this lesson
Step2: Learn the new words. Readthe words by yourselves
Write down those points on the blackboard and explain for students then read the points sereral times.

He was born in 1992.
He was born on December12.1989/
Where was he born?
He was born in Shanghai.
3.We are never too old to learn.
She is too young to go to school.
She is so young ,that she can’t go to school.
She isn’t old enough to go to school.
The problem is too difficult for me to work out.
The problem is so difficult that I can’t work out.
Step2: Ask a student to make a list of intrernational sport stars you know.
For example.DengYaping Yao Ming
Jordan:Martina Hingis.
Darid Buckham
Step3: Look at the picture 1 and listen to the tape.
Finish the pictures.
Step4: Look at 10.
Practice the conversation about DengYaping below.
Then make comersation about the other sports stars.
Ask the students to read the dialogue in pairs.for several minutes,the ask several pairs to make the dialogue.Pay attention to the pronunciation of year, Then ask the stuents make the dialogues of other picture, then check the dialogue.
Step5: Sum up
Go over the words and practice the dialogue.
Step6: Homework
Make some other dialogues according to the pictures.

Both of them are great.But I don’t know the rest points of the blank of 2a.
Let’s listen to the tape to finish them, then listen to the tape to fill in the chart.
Step5: Do 26 Listen again.
Step6: Then Fill in the blanks of 2c by yourselves, Practice the dialogue for several minutes in pairs.
Step7: Ask Ss to make dialogue of 2c to make students master the use of “how long” and “when”.
